Applicants International Social Work Degree

Graduates with a social work degree from outside Canada or the USA need to have their education evaluated to see if it matches a Canadian social work degree. You must get your international social work credentials evaluated by the Canadian Association of Social Workers (CASW) before applying to the Manitoba College of Social Workers. CLICK HERE for more information on the CASW credentials assessment service.

Apply here if you can legally work in Canada and your social work degree has been assessed by the Canadian Association of Social Workers as equal to a Canadian BSW or MSW.

Financial Supports for Internationally Educated Applicants

Manitoba My New Home: There are various financial support options available to internationally educated/trained professionals and tradespersons residing in Manitoba. Each has its own eligibility criteria.

Manitoba Careers for Internationally Educated Professionals Program: This program helps internationally educated professionals (IEPs) work in their fields in Manitoba. It offers financial assistance for assessment and training costs while they seek registration. To be eligible, individuals must have started the registration process with a Manitoba regulator and be motivated to complete it efficiently.

Recognition Counts: This program supports skilled immigrants who want to work in their area of expertise or in a different career in Manitoba. It offers financial counseling and the chance to apply for a loan of up to $30,000 with Assiniboine Credit Union to help cover the costs of getting their qualifications recognized and finding related jobs.

Manitoba Student Aid: This program offers extra financial help for Manitobans who can’t afford to pay for post-secondary education (like university or college) on their own. It provides different types of funding through the Manitoba Student Aid Program and the Canada Student Loans and Grants Programs. This includes repayable government loans and non-repayable grants or bursaries.
