Applicants RSW in Another Canadian Jurisdiction

Apply here if you are a member in good standing with a social work regulatory body in Canada.

If you are registered in another Canadian province/territory and want to offer electronic social work services only to Manitoba residents, please read the Electronic Social Work Practice Policy before applying.

Eligibility

Active Social Work Registration as a practicing member in good standing in another Canadian jurisdiction. Options:

  • Full Registration
    • Working in person and electronically in Manitoba
  • Electronic Social Work Practice (ESWP) only
    • Residing outside of Manitoba and working in Manitoba only electronically
    • Public Registry Practice Limitation on Certificate of Practice

Application Tips

  1. Before applying online, collect the documents in Step 1. Original records must be dated within 6 months of application.
  2. $100 application fee starts application.
  3. Submit required documents with online application. Documents submitted prior to application may be lost or destroyed.
  4. Applications expire 6 months after the application fee is paid.
  5. Check status of application in Applicant Portal.

The registration year is April 1 – March 31. Your first registration fee is pro-rated based on approval date.

Evaluation Process

Once all documents have been received, the estimated review period is 3 to 6 weeks. Notice of decision will be sent by email. If approved, payment of the registration fee is required within 30 days. View all relevant MCSW application policies

Step 1: Documentation Collection (gather prior to submitting online application)
Original Criminal record check including vulnerable sector search from your local police district or RCMP

Checks must be dated within 6 months of application. Criminal record checks with vulnerable sector search must be obtained from the jurisdiction of residence within the last 12 months.

IMPORTANT: Electronic criminal record checks must be received prior to access expiry date indicated on notification email from police service.
Record checks from third party agencies (ex CERTN or mybackcheck.ca) and Commissionaires checks are NOT accepted

If you have lived outside Canada in the last 12 months, provide a criminal record check from the country of residence, if that check is available


Checks must be dated within 6 months of application

This is still a requirement if you reside outside of this province.

Step 2: Submit the MCSW Application Package (online application, fee, Step 1 documents)

Upload your Government-issued photo identification

Accepted forms of photo identification:

  • valid driver’s license
  • passport
  • treaty card

If born outside of Canada, include proof of eligibility to work in Canada

Accepted forms of proof of eligibility to work in Canada:

  • Canadian Passport
  • Canadian Citizenship
  • Permanent Residency Card
  • Valid Work Permit

If applicable, upload a copy of proof of name change

If the name on your transcript is different from the name on your application, upload the applicable document from Vital Statistics

Review Reference Requirements. The College will send out the reference form.
