Temporary designation is available to those who are registered as practicing social workers in good standing in another jurisdiction who wish to temporarily practice in Manitoba or with service participants (clients) from Manitoba.
Social Workers planning to practice in Manitoba on an ongoing basis are encouraged to explore other available registration categories, including full registration.
Eligibility
All fees are non-refundable
An applicant may be granted temporary designation by the Registrar for one period not exceeding 45 consecutive days within one registration year where the applicant meets the requirements as follows:
a) is registered as a practicing social worker in good standing with a social work regulatory body in another jurisdiction in Canada or elsewhere;
b) provides the registrar a signed declaration that he or she will have direct client contact for only one or more of the following purposes:
- to conduct a training course or presentation related to professional practice
- to conduct or engage in a research program related to professional practice
- to engage in electronic social work practice from a jurisdiction outside of Manitoba
c) complete an online application, provide proof of identity and current legal name, provide proof of eligibility to practice in Canada, and pay the applicable registration fee
