Red Dress Day 2026, held every May 5th, is a National Day of remembrance and activism honouring the lives of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirited People (MMIWG2S+).
The Southern Chiefs’ Organization (SCO) has compiled a list of events coming up for Red Dress Day, also known as the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls and Two Spirit People, in Manitoba.

WINNIPEG EVENTS
May 5, 2026: Red Dress Day, Honouring and Remembering MMIWG2S+, Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs
The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs (AMC) Red Dress Day Memorial Walk and Ceremony takes place on May 5, 2026, starting at 10:00 AM at the Winnipeg Law Courts (408 York Ave), walking together to Oodena Circle at The Forks.
May 7, 2026: Creating Systemic Change Through The Red Dress Alert, University of Manitoba
On Thursday, May 7th, 2026, Giganawenimaanaanig and the Centre for Human Rights Research at the University of Manitoba invite you to join an event in honour of National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls and 2SLGBTQIA+ (MMIWG2S+) people, also known as Red Dress Day. This year, we are honoured to host Sandra Delaronde to speak on “Creating Systemic Change through the Red Dress Alert”.

May 4 & 5, 2026: Red Dress Day, MKO MMIWG Liaison Unit
May 4, 12:00 – 3:00 PM, Honouring Our Loved Ones, poster making at MKO MMIWG Office. May 5, 10:30 AM – 1:00 PM ribbon ceremony and tobacco offering, community walk and visit to the MMIWG Monument. All welcome to attend, wear red to show your support and stand in solidarity.
