Committees
MCSW welcomes applications from registrants and public representatives from a variety of backgrounds who have an interest in professional regulation and support to the profession to serve on College committees. Committees work with staff and members of the Board to carry out the mandate of the College.
Complaints Committee
The Complaints Committee has the legislative responsibility under The Social Work Profession Act (the Act), the Social Work Profession Regulation and the MCSW Bylaw to evaluate complaints about the conduct of current and former members of MCSW.
Continuing Competence Committee
The Continuing Competence Committee shall provide advice and guidance to the Board, other MCSW Committees, and College staff on matters related to the Continuing Competency program.
Inquiry Committee
The Inquiry Committee has the legislative responsibility under The Social Work Profession Act (the Act), Social Work Profession Regulation and the MCSW Bylaws to hold disciplinary hearings related to current and former members of MCSW.
Legislative Review Committee
The Legislative Review Committee provides guidance and advice to the Board with respect to reviewing, updating and revising the Social Work Profession Act (the Act), the Social Work Profession Regulation (the Regulation) and the General Operating By‐Law of the Manitoba College of Social Workers (the By‐ Law). In reviewing legislation, the Committee may identify possible revisions for consideration by the Board and/or government representatives.
Nominating Committee
In partnership with the Executive Director/Registrar, Board and membership, the Nominating Committee will communicate with and mentor potential Board members and strive to obtain a sufficient number of nominations for the election process for Board vacancies.
Registration Committee
The Registration Committee provides advice to the Registrar with respect to applications for registration and provides support and advice regarding the promotion of membership.
Standards and Ethics Committee
The Standards and Ethics Committee provides guidance and advice to the Board with respect to the establishment and revision of practice standards, code of ethics and practice directives.
Working Groups
MCSW welcomes applications from registrants, student members, stakeholders and community members from a variety of backgrounds who have an interest in supporting the College by serving on a working group.
Land Acknowledgement Working Group
The Land Acknowledgement Working Group is established to develop and make recommendations to the Board with respect to the land acknowledgement as an important component of the overall Strategic Plan.
Strategic Planning Working Group
The Board of Directors has a responsibility to ensure effective organizational strategic planning to identify priorities and goals. The Strategic Planning Working Group is established on a short-term basis to develop and make recommendations to the Board with respect to the Strategic Plan.
